Not allowed to take your own food to the Big Weekend?

Can anyone think of a sensible reason for not allowing you to take your own food onsite?

I mean I can sort of understand the booze bit, but are we going to be treated like a captive audience and fleeced of every penny we have on us in order to get a dog burger and a few pints?

It sounds dodgey to me, I just hope this isn't going to be the one thing that leaves a bad taste (excuse the pun) in peoples mouths after so much effort has gone into making such an amazing event come together.

My mum has suggested a colostomy bag of ratatouille and a bag full of wine that could be placed in such a way it could be mistaken for a dowagers hump!

Well it's always been the same every year.

They didn't like me taking cranberry juice last year as they were worried it was booze. I guess as well there is the problem of bottles. Other than food taking longer to search through (and I suppose they're worried about drugs) I think the only real answer is that it's one way to gain extra revenue.

suppose it depends on how much food & drink is inside the venue.

Heard on Moyles there is a good selection of food

Just crossing fingers on the prices, hope they're West Swindon prices not London ones

There's a Carvery van of some kind. You can see it Moyles' tour around the site at www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/

Given that entry is free for those lucky enough to get tickets, and that other festivals cost a fortune to get into to see the kind of acts they have lined up - I'm not really that surprised they look to cover some of the significant costs by making you buy overpriced food and drink on site.
