Radio 1's Christmas Party 2007
Radio 1's Christmas Party 2007 was at Maida Vale, London and we sent along revoing reporter Jono to find out what was going on this year at the Radio 1 festive bash to end the year.
I'm just in from Radio 1's Christmas Party, and it was a very enjoyable time.
This year they had changed the format from a 'live' outside broadcast to something that reminded me a bit of Top of the Pops without the actual presenters. Scott and Edith were in another room with the celebrities, and the bands and artists performed in the room the guests were in.
This left a lot to be desired for during the first half hour as Greg James tried to explain the set-up, but Hard-Fi soon turned up to try and get things going. They played their first track live and recorded a few other songs which were to go out later in the show and over the festive period.
So in effect we got four or five tracks in a set from Kate Nash, KT Tunstall, Hard-Fi, and The Hoosiers whilst the listeners got one live track and a Christmas track.
Unfortunately it meant that the celebrities that were 'at the party' were actually just in Scott's studio, and a few members of the audience were chosen to go and visit them.
Although this year's set-up had left a lot to be desired for, it was an enjoyable afternoon out and we all got Christmas hats, some free food, a free pint and there were opportunities to get a picture with your favourite DJs.
And upon listening to the radio stuff, you could tell it was delicately put together to please the listeners more than the guests - it's just a shame we didn't get to hear more of Scott and Edith there!
For me the funniest moment had to be Kate Nash's set which a lot of people disappeared during as the buffet had arrived... that poor girl, I'm sure it didn't dent her confidence though!
