Scott’s mum finally got her own back after weeks of Scott winding her up with gullible pranks, enlisting help from his Radio 1 boss and Jo Whiley to construct an elaborate fake scandal designed to make Scott squirm.
Scott opens the show visibly anxious, and it quickly becomes clear something is wrong — the team are acting strangely around him. When pressed, Scott admits he received a suspicious phone call earlier and has been deliberately avoiding mentioning Casualty (Jo Whiley’s show) all morning. His mum then reveals herself, explaining how she’s been collecting ammunition from weeks of Scott’s pranks: getting him arrested on air, the broken metatarsal incident, the plastic bag phone-cleaning trick, and the X-Factor “I’ve Got You Babe” stunt. To even the score, she orchestrated her revenge with help from Radio 1 management.
The centrepiece is a recorded prank call from Scott’s boss, playing the press office, claiming Jo Whiley is furious about comments made on air and has already been to the tabloids. The caller describes an increasingly outrageous fake story: that Scott allegedly tried to seduce Jo after a DJ dinner, went back to her hotel room, was found naked on the bed, and has a tattoo of an anchor with “Hello Sailor” above it. Throughout the call, Scott is cornered into either denying the allegations (which makes him look like he’s calling Jo a liar) or admitting something that never happened. By the time his boss suggests he just apologize and say he “misread the situation,” Scott is thoroughly trapped — exactly as his mum intended.
The whole thing unravels when Scott’s boss arrives to reveal it’s all been a setup, and Scott is forced to admit his mum got him fair and square.
