26 October 2006: Laura’s Diary Finale, McFly Prank, and Scott’s Mystery Bottom Drawer

The final instalment of Laura’s diary sees her scheming to sabotage her friend’s relationship, plus Scott pulls off a wind-up on McFly’s Harry Judd, and there’s an ongoing mystery about what’s lurking in Scott’s bottom drawer.

Laura’s sister Mary returns to read the conclusion of Laura’s teenage diary, in which Laura — feeling insecure about her own relationship — manipulates her friend Calam by falsely suggesting his girlfriend has been flirting with another boy. The plan works, sowing discord in their relationship. Mary and the team react with some disbelief at Laura’s callous scheming, though Laura justifies it with teenage logic: “I love him so much.”

The show then reveals the aftermath of a prank on McFly. Scott had convinced a girl named Haley to call McFly’s Harry Judd, claiming Joe Cole had read out his number on air. Harry fell for it completely, only discovering it was a wind-up after discussing it with bandmate Dougie. Scott reflects on the idea of giving out multiple celebrity numbers to see which gets the fewest calls.

Scott also discusses his recent appearance on the National Lottery draw show, where he pressed a button to trigger the lottery ball machines. A listener rings in claiming the button is fake and that Drawmaster Louise actually operates the machines — a revelation Scott refuses to believe, protesting “Don’t ruin it for me.”

The show features the ongoing “Psycho Child Update,” where Ben is heading to meet his girlfriend’s aggressive six-year-old son, who’s been leaving scary answering machine messages. A caller suggests the boy’s mother might have a split personality and is making the calls herself at night.

Finally, Scott teases a long-running mystery about a single leather glove he keeps in his bottom drawer, insisting he has no idea how it got there, while the team expresses deep skepticism about his explanation.
