10 November 2006: Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay Assesses Scott’s Nissan Micra

Jay Kay from Jamiroquai drops in to critique Scott’s notoriously terrible Nissan Micra, and the conversation ranges from his impressive car collection and rejected Toyota Yaris advert to observations about celebrity photographers, lingerie, and kneeboots.

Scott is still struggling to shift his Nissan Micra, which received an embarrassing 76% “pile of poo” rating in an online poll. He enlists Jay Kay—self-described car enthusiast with three Ferraris, a Rolls-Royce, and a former Coco Chanel Mercedes—to cast an expert eye over the vehicle. Jay Kay recounts turning down a lucrative Japanese Toyota Yaris advert because he feared Jeremy Clarkson would ridicule him for endorsing such a modest car, especially one painted pale pink. When they inspect the Micra outside, Jay Kay is merciless: he notes its Ford Fiesta hubcaps (which he suspects are stolen), tatty interior, and remarks that the tax disc is worth more than the car itself. The episode also touches on Scott’s appearance on *Celebrity Sizzahands*, a Children in Need special on BBC 3 featuring hairdressing guru Steve Strange, and includes a game where Jay Kay attempts to identify Jamiroquai tracks from their intros—with mixed success. The conversation drifts into Scott’s recent observations about Girls Aloud members in lingerie and kneeboots, and a lighter discussion about paparazzi, including Jay Kay’s admission that he’s had a “truce” with photographers after past altercations.
