13 November 2006: Nelly Furtado on Chart Show Live and Trashing Hotel Rooms

Nelly Furtado joins Scott to talk about her upcoming appearance at Chart Show Live, but the conversation quickly turns to the rock-and-roll lifestyle — including her admitted habit of trashing hotel rooms with her toddler in tow.

Scott welcomes Nelly Furtado to the show, fresh from her agreement to appear at Chart Show Live on Sunday alongside Beyoncé, Girls Aloud, All Saints, and McFly. When Scott jokingly tries to sell her his ancient, decrepit 20-year-old car (previously offered to JK Creeperz from Jamiroquai, who couldn’t take it because his garage was full of Ferraris), Nelly politely declines, though Scott persuades her to keep it on hold.

The chat turns to the rock-and-roll lifestyle, with Nelly admitting she’s started embracing the fun side of being a pop star — and that includes some hotel room destruction. She and her toddler daughter have been trashing hotel rooms during their travels, casually describing damage like finger paint on the walls and harm to furniture. Scott responds with mock concern, especially when Nelly’s daughter is heard in the background eating lunch and rubbing rice into a cup — prompting Scott to joke “there goes another hotel room.”

The banter escalates when Scott invites Nelly back to his room to watch Prime Suspect DVDs, and Nelly agrees to bring her R. Kelly opera DVD. When Joel and JK’s plan for a night out with Nelly in Brighton comes up, Scott warns her off, introducing her to the concept of “cock blocking” — which Nelly admits is a new experience for her.
