Lloyd is devastated to discover he’s been cast as a non-speaking king holding a mirror in his school nativity play, while Chopper heads off to film Celebrity Weakest Link with Dave against the Chuckle Brothers—and calls in with updates from the green room.
Scott returns to cover his own show after a last-minute call from Radio 1 HQ, having stepped away to do Celebrity Scissorhands. Lloyd, the station’s former ten-year-old football guru from World Cup coverage, rings in thoroughly gutted about his nativity casting. He’s landed the part of a king—but with no lines whatsoever, just holding a mirror on stage. The role went to his mate Calon instead of Joseph, and Lloyd feels betrayed when he discovers his own auntie, who works at the school, did the casting. Scott and the team offer encouragement and suggest Lloyd improvise some lines anyway, pointing out that being a king is at least central to the plot, unlike Lloyd’s previous experience as a tree.
Chopper arrives mid-show en route to film Celebrity Weakest Link, where he’s partnered with Dave against the Chuckle Brothers. He’s had a spray tan that morning and describes himself as looking distinctly orange. He calls in later from the green room with a full report: the brothers are allegedly plying him and Dave with champagne to sabotage their chances, and there’s a mysterious spy texting in observations. Scott manages to get both Paul and Barry Chuckle on the phone briefly—Paul discusses Steve Strange’s scissor work on his hair, and Barry confirms his manicure is perfect.
The show also runs several rounds of **Flirt Divert**, the phone-in feature where listeners leave chat-up messages. Highlights include Maureen describing herself as a “foxy blade,” and a series of increasingly awkward impressions (Trevor McDonald, Tom Baker, and Fred Elliott) that clearly haven’t worked.
