19 May 2025: Dogs take over Chelsea Flower Show

Live from Chelsea

Scott presented from the Radio 2 Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show after weeks of nominations, auditions and campaigning.

The selected dogs arrived with their owners, while Scott checked whether the animals behaved as well in person as their application videos had promised.

The garden itself was described in detail, including the features designed for dogs and the planting chosen for the show.

The winning dogs

Owners explained why their pets had been nominated and what receiving a place at Chelsea meant to them.

Some dogs had rescue stories, while others had become local or online characters through unusual behaviour and strong personalities.

Scott continued to treat the event as a red-carpet occasion, interviewing dogs through their owners and assessing who appeared most comfortable with celebrity attention.

Jo Whiley and Radio 2

Jo Whiley returned to the project she had helped launch and discussed seeing the finished garden filled with dogs and listeners.

Other Radio 2 presenters visited during the morning, connecting the breakfast broadcast with the station’s wider Chelsea coverage.

Regular features

The Easiest Quiz and Birthday Game were adapted to the outside-broadcast setting, with dogs and garden visitors frequently interrupting the usual rhythm.

19 May 2025: Vernon Kay

The handover came live from Chelsea as Vernon continued the station’s coverage from the Dog Garden.
