Would you lend a colleague your gym shorts?
A member of the Radio 1 office had forgotten his gym kit and asked colleagues whether anybody would lend him shorts.
Some people did not have spare clothes, while others were unwilling to hand theirs over. The team debated whether borrowing another person’s shorts was unhygienic, even if the wearer kept underwear beneath them.
One proposal was a communal office box containing shorts, jogging bottoms, leotards and other exercise clothes, with staff taking turns to wash everything at weekends.
Nobody ultimately supplied the shorts. The colleague went to a nearby LA Fitness in his vest and pants instead.
Cheryl Cole on the speaking clock
Comic Relief’s celebrity speaking clock moved on to Cheryl Cole.
Scott repeatedly called the number to hear her say: “Cheryl Cole here. The time for Comic Relief is…” followed by the exact time.
The team thought she sounded tired or hurried. During one attempt, the call disconnected and Scott joked that he had become the first person to be hung up on by the speaking clock.

The mysterious texter returned with more messages involving recurring characters.
One claimed Dada’s ferret had travelled up his trousers and bitten him. Another said Mr Von Flucke or a similarly named character had Bloodwyn sitting on his lap and had turned “red as a beetroot”.
A further message described a trip to Southsea, the Mary Rose and Hayling Island, where a hovercraft nearly sank and Bloodwyn became stuck in a roof lift.
Scott imagined combining the texter with the celebrity speaking clock, with the Posh Radio 4 Lady announcing the time and ending every message with “Munt” and “Doot”.
Beccy’s Filofax
Beccy revealed a late Christmas present: a Filofax for 2009.
Scott and the team questioned why she needed a paper organiser when her phone could hold contacts and dates. Beccy preferred the physical pages and pointed to information that included religious festivals, world temperatures and lists of European Union members.
The programme compared her diary with a listener’s older Filofax. The listener had Japan’s National Foundation Day and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday marked, while Beccy’s version omitted some of those dates but included Valentine’s Day.
The discussion turned into a competitive comparison of which Filofax contained the most authoritative calendar.
