Dear Scott
Dear Scott was the listener-correspondence feature in which the Posh Radio 4 Lady read emails and texts before Scott, Beccy and Chappers responded.
One listener asked which person was Beccy because she had always imagined her as a 60-year-old Women’s Institute member with large grey hair and “jam everywhere”. The team clarified that Beccy was in her twenties and pointed listeners towards a photograph from the Big Weekend “Beccy Cam”.
Another message replayed Greg James advertising Big Weekend red-button material. His references to “full sets”, interviews and footage of himself with Casualty sounded suggestive only to the listener, leaving Scott to accuse them of having a filthy mind.
A listener reacted excitedly to the new JLS record. Beccy recalled seeing JLS gathered around the Beccy Cam with “the one that doesn’t speak” apparently looking like an additional member of the group while helping them type messages.
A Swindon pub had invited Scott to a weekend of DJs, lasers and an Erasure tribute act, but the invitation arrived too late. Scott said former Big Brother contestant Glyn had also suggested going out in Swindon, although Scott stayed in.
Other letters offered to manufacture programme T-shirts, described Dr 90210 surgeon Dr Robert Rey drawing breasts beneath his autograph, confirmed that “Roger” was correct radio terminology and recommended Extreme Male Beauty, in which a man seeking surgery to resemble Peter Andre apparently ended up looking like Scott.
Oh, What’s Occurring?
The post-Big Weekend edition had a loose dairy-products theme.
Fightstar were given 30 seconds to name as many cheeses as possible. They produced 12 accepted answers, although one sounded like “Portaloo” and was eventually interpreted as Port Salut.
A question supplied by Unofficial Mills counted every use of “egg” during the previous week’s discussion of the Egg Genie. Scott, Beccy and the advert had said it 53 times.
Dizzee Rascal then tried to record a clean introduction to one of his Big Weekend performances. He repeatedly stumbled, restarted or changed his wording before finally completing it on the sixth attempt.
Beccy won the game.
