20 May 2009: The Dolly Rockers admit they are not French

The Dolly Rockers

The Dolly Rockers were the latest act booked for Best Guest Week.

The programme had repeatedly presented them as a French group because of their song Je Suis une Dolly and their exaggerated accents. Sophie, Brooke and Lucie finally admitted that they were British.

They said the French idea emerged while writing music in Jersey and that part of the accent had been inspired by Del Boy’s unreliable French in Only Fools and Horses.

The group brought personalised T-shirts for Scott and the team and discussed their deliberately chaotic fashion and pop image.

They revisited their earlier X Factor audition, where Louis Walsh had told them they had potential but were not ready for the competition.

Dear Scott

Listeners reacted to Best Guest Week, the musical and the programme’s insistence that the Dolly Rockers were genuinely French.

The Posh Radio 4 Lady also read messages containing new plot proposals and questions for the group.

Oh, What’s Occurring?

The daily game used three current clips or challenges.

The contestants predicted totals and outcomes before Scott revealed the complete recordings, including material connected with television talent shows and members of the Radio 1 team.
