8 July 2009: Beccy finds extraordinary adverts and the lost Download camera is developed

Beccy’s Classifieds

In Beccy’s Classifieds, Beccy presented genuine adverts whose value came mainly from strange wording, undesirable objects or sellers revealing too much personal information.

The transcript contains a full extended edition, with Scott and Chappers questioning prices, hygiene and why anybody had placed the listings online.

The individual adverts were assessed one by one rather than merely read as a list, continuing the feature’s usual bargain-versus-rubbish format.

The Download Festival camera

Safety marshals had found a disposable camera near a Download Festival stage and sent it into Radio 1.

The team developed the film as part of the recurring “fun camera” idea.

They examined the strangers, festival scenes and unexplained photographs while trying to work out who had owned the camera and whether anything on the roll would identify them.

Oh, What’s Occurring?

The day’s game used three new counting or prediction challenges.

The contestants guessed the outcome before Scott played the complete clips and awarded points, including material connected with recent television and Radio 1 colleagues.
