2 October 2009: Golf on the toilet and hot dogs in a nightclub

It’s Only Bley Friday

Scott judged his latest performance of the Friday catchphrase unusually highly, awarding himself nine out of ten for the timing and pause. Listeners responded with their own scores and one said the dramatic music made them want to visit Alton Towers.

He also looked back at a student appearance in Bristol, remembering only a handful of names and admitting that the notes he had made about the people he met had already disappeared.

Nightclub hot dogs

The venue had sold hot dogs beside its chill-out bar. Scott had never considered buying food inside a nightclub and wondered whether eating might make customers less drunk, while Chappers thought it was a practical idea.

The discussion expanded into the quality of late-night food and whether anybody wanted to handle a hot dog while dancing in a crowded club.

Golf on the toilet

A listener described practising golf while sitting on the toilet, using the confined space to work on technique. The programme examined whether this counted as productive multitasking or simply an elaborate way to avoid leaving the bathroom.
