19 February 2015: Ricky Rayment and Lewis Bloor take on Chris at Bingo

A two-against-one TOWIE game

Ricky Rayment and Lewis Bloor arrived before the new series of The Only Way Is Essex. Scott had selected them for a special double booking and decided that both men would play together against Chris rather than everybody competing separately.

Chris referred to the arrangement as American doubles and accepted that he would receive both retaliatory sprays. The game was streamed live, with listeners encouraged to use lunch breaks to watch rather than merely imagine the amount of water moving across the table.

The pair embraced the format and repeatedly soaked Chris. Their competitive approach made the edition feel closer to a team sport than a celebrity interview, while Scott continued presenting the clips from the safety of the dry side of the studio.

The most anticipated cinema trip

Scott and Chris confirmed that they would see Fifty Shades of Grey that evening. They had rejected going with their mothers and approached several celebrities who either declined or could not be named.

The successful choice was Vanessa Feltz. Scott wanted somebody whose presence would make the experience feel awkward, but Vanessa also seemed likely to enjoy and comment on the film much more than either of them. Her history of producing accidental Innuendo Bingo clips made her uniquely qualified.

Chris realised that the three of them would be sharing a screening immediately before he and Scott covered the Breakfast Show. The possibility of discussing the evening with a few hours’ sleep made the booking more alarming.

Real or No Real

Greg James joined the daily facts as preparations for the cinema continued. The game shared the programme with new TOWIE promotion and growing excitement around the following week’s Brit Awards, but Scott was already more interested in whether Vanessa would actually arrive and what she might say during the film.

The show ended with the Bingo studio drying out and Scott, Chris and Vanessa heading towards an evening which would provide much of the following Monday’s programme.
