21 October 2016: Oliver becomes the first Elevator Pitch success

Scott is corrected at spin class

Scott is again selected as the bad example during an exercise class. The spin instructor places him under a spotlight, adjusts his hand and tells him to move his “booty” farther over the saddle.

He accepts that he was doing it incorrectly but dislikes the unfamiliar experience of being publicly told off. Chris notes that Scott’s normal working life rarely includes anybody correcting him so directly.

A royal photographer calls

Jordan asks whether photographing the Saudi royal family counts as a hot job. He follows them between residences and events in Riyadh, Qatar and Dubai, with France and Monaco likely to follow.

Scott immediately asks whether Jordan can arrange a meeting with Sheikh Hamdan, whose travel and social-media life he has admired for years. Jordan believes a call or message may be possible, transforming the hot-jobs verdict into a potentially extraordinary introduction.

Oliver attacks the co-host

Fired Apprentice candidate Oliver Nohl-Oser must persuade Scott that he should replace Chris. He uses the lift journey to call Chris shambolic, late, hungover and badly dressed, then promises business ability, new talent and “sausage skills”.

The aggression surprises everybody, but it works. Scott accepts that Chris has worn tracksuit bottoms for two days, praises Oliver’s respect for the BBC and allows him into the studio, making him the first candidate not to be sent straight back down.
