The strange week between Christmas and New Year
Scott and Chris return on Breakfast unsure whether Wednesday still counts as Bamboleo Wednesday when most listeners have only just gone back to work. Chris had to text the previous evening to confirm that the show was really happening before leaving the pub early.
They greet people working through the holiday period and defend themselves against claims that the programme is pre-recorded. A listener heading to New York for her 21st birthday helps by speaking live from the M25, while Scott incorrectly directs her to the wrong Home Alone 2 hotel.
Alan Sugar once had enormous hair
Donald Trump’s youthful appearance in Home Alone 2 produces a list of celebrities who seem to have always looked old. Bruce Forsyth, Morgan Freeman, Trevor McDonald, Jeremy Clarkson, Michael Caine and Maggie Smith are among the suggestions.
Alan Sugar is the outstanding discovery. Early photographs show him with unexpectedly large hair beside the primitive computers he was selling, allowing listeners to watch the machines improve while Sugar gradually becomes the businessman they recognise.
Christmas cooking and presents are reviewed
Chris describes contributing cheesy leeks and sprouts to the family meal, only to receive less praise than the turkey and roast potatoes. Scott has gone one step further and made a turkey curry for his mum, although leaving it on too long limits the achievement.
They also review the gifts Chris bought for his girlfriend with Scott’s help. A nail treatment and sunglasses were well received, but Scott has already told her that he chose them, removing any chance for Chris to claim independent success. Bangers resumes after the six-hour Christmas Eve special.
