Scott, Jo and Chappers star in their own ridiculous Deidre’s Video Casebook sketch about office crushes and landladies, then expose the South Wales gossip Laura in a record-breaking Loose Lips feature that clocks in at just 27 seconds.
The episode opens with Scott presenting their homemade Deidre’s Video Casebook sketch, posted on The Sun’s website. The three-minute film parodies the newspaper’s advice column with terrible acting and melodrama: Scott plays a new Radio 1 employee torn between his busty landlady Pam and his crush on Jo, complete with thought bubbles and a confusing bed scene where he and Jo are “top and tailing” before it’s revealed to be all a dream. The sketch is intentionally awful, with Scott’s internal monologue delivered in a creepy voice and overwrought dramatic music throughout.
The main event is Loose Lips, where Natalie nominates her friend Laura from South Wales for having the biggest mouth in their group. Laura works in a hairdresser and apparently can’t keep any secret. To test her, they cook up fake gossip: Natalie calls Laura to say she’s pregnant, and when their friend Calum rings back asking what’s going on, Laura blabs the news in record time. Natalie predicts 37 seconds; Calum reports it takes just 27 seconds for Laura to spill, making it the fastest Loose Lips ever recorded. When Danny Howard calls Laura back to confront her on air, she’s mortified but admits she’s always been a gossip.
Chappers then apologizes for throwing Chopper Chops sweets at trick-or-treaters on Halloween. He explains he’d had a non-stop stream of visitors interrupting Coronation Street, and after warning people in advance, he snapped and hurled the lollipops at a group of eight-year-olds before slamming the door. Scott jokes that Chappers needs to be careful about getting arrested.
