15 May 2008: Scott Gets Hit By An Egg And A Red Onion

Scott is attacked by two kids on mountain bikes who throw an egg and a red onion at him outside a pub, plus the team tackle Beccy’s classifieds bargains, play Badly Bleeped TV, and try to get Wing to number one.

Scott opens the show with an unfortunate run-in with some aggressive cyclists. While sitting outside a pub on a nice day, two kids on mountain bikes came past and threw an egg at him, which hit his chest and broke all over his shirt. When they came back for a second pass, they threw a red onion instead — which actually hurt more than the egg. A helpful hobo gave him napkins and warned him never to sit on that bench again, as the kids apparently do this every night. Scott reflects on his general bad luck with these kinds of random incidents.

Later, someone has tampered with Chapper’s script by adding rude words without his knowledge, prompting the show to discuss a similar incident involving American sports presenter Charles Barkley, who accidentally read an obscene ad-lib inserted into his autocue on live television.

Beccy returns with her beloved classifieds segment, featuring some genuinely useful finds: spare Scrabble tiles (£1 for two), Monopoly houses (99p for two), a completed jigsaw puzzle ready for framing or hairdryer-assisted disassembly, free kitchenware, and crutches. There’s also discussion of a comprehensive private investigation home study course being sold for £100, and a telescope for £20.

The team plays another round of Badly Bleeped TV, attempting to guess which words have been censored from clips from EastEnders and Newsnight. They largely get the answers wrong. Finally, they discuss the “Get Wing to Number One” Facebook campaign and debate which of Wing’s songs they should collectively download to secure her a hit record — ultimately selecting “Hero” as the track most worthy of championing.
