18 June 2008: Beccy’s Fake Dad & Lloyd’s Football Facts

Beccy is sent to find a complete stranger at Oxford Circus to impersonate her father when her boss calls during a fake sickie, plus Lloyd returns as the show’s irreverent 12-year-old football expert to preview Euro 2008.

The episode opens with gossip about celebrity guests Sienna and Kira at Radio 1, before moving into the main feature: Beccy is given a challenge to convince a random shopper to pretend to be her dad. The scenario is that she’s called in sick to work but her boss becomes suspicious when she mentions being with her father—so she needs a stranger to back up her story on the phone. She successfully persuades a man at Oxford Circus to play along. During the fake phone call with her boss (Joe Cole), the stranger-turned-fake-dad delivers an impressively committed performance, claiming Beccy has stomach problems and mentioning details about his own wedding plans. The boss seems to buy it, though the sirens in the background add authentic chaos to the deception.

Lloyd, the show’s resident child football pundit, joins for a Euro 2008 preview. His analysis is characteristically chaotic: he discusses why France should be supported (because the French kiss was invented there), delivers jumbled attempts at pronouncing Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi’s name, and confidently predicts Romania will beat Holland. He also takes credit for inventing bizarre origin stories, including the Caesar salad being named after Julius Caesar.

The show also features **Badly Bleeped TV**, a game where Beccy guesses missing words from TV clips, and **You’re Sick**, a dark-humour news story segment featuring an Australian man bitten on the penis by a snake and a woman who ditched her new husband for a barman at their wedding reception.
