Oh, What’s Occurring?
With Scott absent, Chappers presented Oh, What’s Occurring?, the daily game in which incomplete clips, counting challenges and office pranks were turned into questions for the contestants.
Beccy competed against a guest identified in the transcript as Joe Cole.
Edith Bowman’s positive language
The first question asked how often Edith Bowman used approving words during one hour of her afternoon programme.
The montage included “awesome”, “very good”, “brilliant”, “beautiful”, “lovely”, “great”, “genius”, “nice”, “perfect” and “the best”.
The final count was 25. Joe Cole’s prediction of 14 was closer than Beccy’s 12, giving him the first point.
The “up dog” prank
Radio 1 colleague Gemma called five members of staff and tried to make them ask: “What’s up dog?”
She told them that the studio smelled of “up dog” or that Scott was waiting for some to be delivered. The punchline was: “Nothing, dog. What’s up with you?”
Andy fell for it immediately. Chloe asked what “up dog” was, although Gemma delivered the joke badly enough that the team debated whether it counted. Esme also asked the required question.
Chappers heard the setup and replied: “What’s up with up dog?”, allowing Gemma to complete the punchline. Chris recognised that a joke was being attempted and refused to cooperate, instead trying out his own lines.
Three of the five were counted as successful. Beccy had predicted three and won the point.
Charlie Sloth’s birthday
The last round asked how quickly Charlie Sloth would mention that his birthday was approaching.
The team joked that he never made much of birthdays before playing the opening of his morning show.
Charlie referred to turning 24 after only 55 seconds. Chappers’ prediction was closest, giving him the overall victory.
