14 May 2010: Scott’s supermarket life low and the Esperanto conference

Scott’s supermarket life low and the Esperanto conference

Scott revisited the humiliation of having his shopping put through at the till before discovering he had left his wallet behind. Sweaty after a run and holding only a ten-pound note, he had to choose what to put back while people in the queue became restless, with the special cake and magazine among the casualties.

The team called it a ‘life low’, although Scott was most upset by the lack of a graceful escape route. A listener’s suggested manoeuvre, pretending to fetch bread and then slipping out through a back door, was not much use in a shop with no convenient exit.

Tom returned for Oh! What’s Occurring?, taking on television questions and another round of real-or-made-up Facebook groups. The programme also found a news item about an Esperanto conference in Llandudno, which became a very specific source of excitement as the Big Weekend approached.
