Beccy’s painfully awkward Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan interview

Scott returned to Friday’s interview with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, in which the pair had come in to discuss The Trip. The clip began well enough, but Beccy’s attempts to describe the partly fictionalised format led to an increasingly uncomfortable run of comparisons, including Grumpy Old Men, Countryfile and The Only Way Is Essex.

Scott framed the replay as an object lesson in interviewing technique, while Beccy accepted that she had been tired and had tried, unsuccessfully, to “liven it up”. Brydon gamely helped keep the conversation moving, while Coogan was left repeatedly clarifying that he and Brydon were not actually old men, or reality-TV stars.
