A Vine star and a crate
Anto Sharp returned after joining the Student Tour in Southampton. His Straight in My Basket videos, in which supermarket products with suggestive names entered his trolley, had become some of the show’s most popular online material.
For Innuendo Bingo, the studio supplied a crate after somebody pointed out that an ordinary bin did not fit the catchphrase. Anto arrived with items of his own, embraced every clip and sprayed Chris as enthusiastically as he delivered the line in supermarkets. Listeners delayed returning to work to watch, and Anto described the experience with the same delight that had made his short videos successful.
His unexpectedly serious Christmas song, built around putting Christmas in a basket, also returned. The recording had taken place during hot weather and sounded even stranger now that its intended season had arrived.
One ticket and two promises
An anonymous listener had obtained two tickets for a band loved by both his girlfriend of nearly four years and his best friend. He had implied to each that they might accompany him, while neither knew the tickets were secured.
Without consequences, he preferred taking his friend, who was the more devoted fan and had failed to buy tickets himself. Choosing him risked several silent days and an expensive peace offering for the girlfriend; choosing her risked damaging the friendship. Lying that the friend owned the tickets would fail because both couples knew one another.
Scott and Chris accepted that the caller wanted them to absorb responsibility for his decision. They advised honesty and leaned towards the best friend on the basis of fandom, while making clear that the resulting domestic trouble remained his own.
Greg James played Real or No Real. Selena Gomez really did drink juice from pickle jars and had previously described her love of pickles at the cinema. The fact made her seem more ordinary to Chris and considerably less glamorous to Scott.
