4 April 2016: DNCE help bring Innuendo Bingo back

Four against one

Innuendo Bingo returned after its break with Joe Jonas and the rest of DNCE facing Chris. Cole Whittle arrived dressed as what he called a “psychedelic samurai genie”, complete with three watches and a chain once used to close the snack bar on an Isle of Wight ferry.

The band had prepared for the game and even brought Chris a Hooters apron, hastily altered to remove the full brand name. The protection did little to help once all four members began spraying him. Clips from cricket, weather forecasts, Coronation Street, Dickinson’s Real Deal and Deal or No Deal made the first round back suitably chaotic.

The complete session was also filmed in 360 degrees, allowing viewers to turn away from the game and inspect the studio or the band’s clothes instead. Scott promised four more editions during the week, beginning with Alfie Deyes the following day.

The Governor reviews The Chase

Scott had appeared on The Celebrity Chase and struggled through his cash-builder before helping the team establish a strong final target. Chaser Anne Hegerty, the Governor, joined by phone from a car park in Cambridge to explain his “pass spiral”, where one skipped question continued distracting him from the next.

She praised Scott’s final round but reminded him that answering Ryan Reynolds rather than Matthew McConaughey would probably have won the charity money. Anne rejected complaints that she should have let the celebrities succeed: her job was to save ITV’s money, and the Chasers received no bonus for winning.

Secrets, dogs and Real or No Real

Greg James returned for Real or No Real. A reported restaurant secrecy agreement was real, although the celebrity involved was Zayn rather than Dave Pearce. A Staffordshire bull terrier called Shadow really had steered a plane in a figure of eight for Dogs Might Fly, while Tom Hiddleston had only presented a guest weather forecast rather than abandoned acting.

The game also revealed Anne Hegerty drove a Honda Jazz, beginning Scott’s new interest in the unexpectedly ordinary cars used by famous people.
