25 November 2016: Paul Sullivan sings his way out of the lift

Professor Green investigates Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? reveals a line back to royalty and introduces another professor during his visit to the Tower Hamlets archive. Scott and Chris immediately hear the title as an invitation to imagine Professor Green conducting the research.

That sends them through other people who appear to share the name, including a children’s entertainer with Jewish party songs and numerous actual academics called Professor Green. The show’s familiar musical version becomes part of an increasingly crowded academic community.

Paul pitches Black Friday

After being fired by Lord Sugar, estate-agency owner Paul Sullivan faces Elevator Pitch. He must explain why Rebecca Black’s “Friday” is the greatest song ever made before travelling from the ground floor to Radio 1.

His early argument confuses the song with Black Friday shopping and does little to persuade Scott. As strangers enter the lift, Paul starts singing, then invents an Adele and Lady Gaga duet version. The willingness to perform publicly saves him: Scott hires him into the studio for a full interview.

Calum Scott brings his mum

Calum Scott arrives with his mother and introduces his new track before playing Real or No Real. He correctly accepts JME’s campaign to rename toast “bread à pain”, then considers whether a pizza chain in Japan is genuinely training reindeer to cope with Christmas deliveries.

The reindeer trial is real, but Calum finishes with ten points against Scott’s 20. He promises to return with the next single, while Bangers ends the week in a draw after Jessie J defeats a high-energy remix of Adele’s “Hello”.
