A photograph made Chris fear Scott had flipped
Scott sent Chris a photograph of himself wearing Pudsey ears and a Children in Need shirt. The picture came from an early promotional shoot, but Chris assumed Scott had been sitting at home dressing up through boredom. His concern did not seem entirely unreasonable after recalling Scott’s habit of putting on a Big Bad Wolf head and leaning from an upstairs window to watch passers-by react. The pair then returned to Chris’s outfit for a forthcoming wedding in Spain. Scott insisted on smart trousers, a belt and a crisp linen shirt; Chris kept testing whether shorts or flip-flops might be acceptable in the heat.
An apology ended the planking problem
The previous day’s search for people barred from local venues produced Sam, who feared he could no longer enter Club Enigma in Market Harborough. He and three friends had started planking across seats when they were almost the only customers. A doorman asked them to stop, so they moved to the dance floor and did it again. Management then asked them to leave. Chris had secretly arranged for manager Tom to hear Sam’s account on the phone. After some prompting, Sam delivered a heartfelt apology and promised not to repeat the performance. Tom said the group could return, effectively lifting the suspected ban. Scott advised Sam not to celebrate by planking again and asked him to send pictures from his next visit.
The kebab-shop hats arrived
The Lincoln Charcoal Grill re-entered the show after listeners had previously praised it as a late-night place where customers could eat generously for little money and receive a free paper hat. Caller Tom had posted hats to Scott and Chris, and rang to check that they had arrived. He also passed on an invitation from the owner, Ismail, for the pair to visit Lincoln for a large meal. Tom’s usual order was cheesy chips with two pieces of chicken, which immediately revived Chris’s intense craving for cheesy chips from the day before. The discussion defended kebab shops as more than an afterthought at the end of a night out: Tom remembered first visiting the Charcoal Grill with his father and described it as a proper sit-down restaurant. Free headwear and the promise of hospitality left Scott and Chris ready to accept the invitation.
