Scott reopened the programme’s list of small discoveries that listeners claimed had improved everyday life. Katie suggested using a pizza cutter before putting a pizza in the oven, arguing that it avoided sawing through melted cheese and an overcooked crust afterwards.
Scott immediately spotted a possible problem: the cheese might melt across the cuts and join the slices together again. Katie said the pieces should be pulled a couple of millimetres apart before cooking, although this raised another concern that the cheese could run through the gaps and stick to the tray.
The team also discussed using kitchen scissors on pizza. Katie questioned how many people had a dedicated pair and warned that ordinary household scissors might previously have been used for “who knows what”.
The exchange captured the standard required of a Game Changer: the idea had to survive detailed questioning rather than merely sound clever in the first sentence.
The Easiest Quiz
The quiz returned with the weekly scoreboard reset. Scott reminded the contestant that instant answers mattered as much as knowledge and again promised to challenge any ruling that appeared unnecessarily harsh.
The Birthday Game: Ryan turns 50
Ryan, from near Garstang north of Preston, celebrated his 50th birthday before travelling to Snowdonia with his wife’s family and seven children, nieces and nephews.
He shared his birthday with Russell Crowe, Tim Peake, Anne-Marie and Tina Daheley’s daughter Athena. Asked for his ideal birthday number one, Ryan wanted Britpop — particularly Oasis, Blur or Supergrass — and revealed that he had secured resale tickets for Oasis at Wembley after spending seven hours unsuccessfully trying during the original sale.
One of his three choices was McFly’s 5 Colours in Her Hair. Ryan decided to continue spinning, a choice that Denise would question on the following morning’s Birthday Game.
