Let Eurovision week begin
Scott opened the week by declaring that the Eurovision Song Contest had officially begun.
The programme mixed normal breakfast features with updates from Basel, where delegations, fans and broadcasters were gathering for the semi-finals and grand final.
Remember Monday’s UK entry, What the Hell Just Happened?, remained central. Scott discussed rehearsals, staging speculation and the pressure surrounding the group’s first appearance on the Eurovision stage.
Listeners sent predictions, favourite entries and travel updates from people already heading to Switzerland.
Regular features
Scott stressed that listeners who were not obsessed with Eurovision would still receive the Birthday Game, Easiest Quiz, Good Morning Minute and the normal music mix.
The Easiest Quiz opened a new weekly leaderboard, while the Birthday Game selected from three number-one records connected with 12 May.
Basel preparations
The programme checked practical details around the contest, including travel, weather, fan events and the atmosphere building in the city.
Scott also prepared for his own broadcasts from Basel, promising backstage access and interviews with artists and Eurovision figures.
