29 May 2025: The Golden Toaster challenge and a heatwave soundtrack

The Golden Toaster challenge

Scott built the Easiest Quiz around the possibility that somebody might finally reach the Golden Toaster.

The prize required a contestant to survive the entire bank of questions rather than merely top the weekly leaderboard.

Listeners debated whether anybody could remain calm long enough, given that ordinary words and numbers repeatedly became impossible under live pressure.

Warm weather arrives

The programme tracked rising temperatures across the UK and produced a deliberately simple summer soundtrack involving cold drinks, barbecues and getting outside.

Scott introduced a “drinking wine, feeling fine” jingle and reminded listeners to enjoy the weather responsibly.

Messages came from people already planning gardens, beaches and barbecues, alongside those who still had to spend the day inside at work.

The Birthday Game: Steph

Steph from East Grinstead joined the Birthday Game and described the cards, presents and plans already making the morning feel special.

She moved through three former number-one singles, with Scott giving the year and chart background before each decision.

Big Guest Friday preview

Scott confirmed that Tom Daley and Hugh Bonneville would join the programme the following morning.

29 May 2025: Vernon Kay

The handover continued the warm-weather mood and the speculation about whether Friday’s contestant could reach the Golden Toaster.
