Pick of the Pups
The Radio 2 Dog Garden campaign moved into its selection stage as Scott reviewed the strongest listener nominations.
Owners had supplied photographs, rescue stories, unusual habits and carefully edited pitches explaining why their dogs deserved a place at Chelsea Flower Show.
Scott treated the process as seriously as a talent-show final, comparing personality, backstory and whether each dog would behave appropriately in a garden full of Radio 2 presenters.
Bowen Yang
Bowen Yang joined Scott to discuss comedy, acting and his work on Saturday Night Live.
He described the pressure of creating topical sketches inside a weekly live programme where ideas could change right up to transmission.
Scott asked about impressions, characters and the difference between a sketch that worked in the writers’ room and one that came alive in front of the studio audience.
Bowen also discussed film work and the growing range of roles available to him beyond the familiar structure of SNL.
The conversation covered the international reach of American comedy and how British audiences encountered clips online even when they did not watch the complete programme.
Bowen’s interview sat alongside the Dog Garden selections, producing one of the morning’s more unusual combinations of Hollywood comedy and competitive pets.
