BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter Scott Mills has hosted a special live broadcast from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, celebrating the nation’s love for dogs and gardens.
The show was hosted from the newly unveiled RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden — a collaborative project between Mills, gardening icon Monty Don, and the Royal Horticultural Society. The garden was purpose-built with canine companions in mind, featuring grassy spaces, shaded areas, and playful touches designed to be enjoyed by both pets and their owners.
Mills was joined on the day by his Cavapoo, Teddy, as well as fellow Radio 2 presenter and gardening enthusiast Jo Whiley and her dog, Brodie. The broadcast included interviews with Monty Don and plant expert Jamie Butterworth, alongside guest appearances from celebrities and their dogs.
Listeners were invited to get involved via the “Puploader” — a platform to submit photos of their pets for display in the garden’s Dog House. Other themed segments included “Paws For Thought” and a light-hearted “Woof Morning Minute”, celebrating all things four-legged.
After the Flower Show, the RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden will be permanently relocated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where it will serve as a dedicated green space for rescue dogs and the teams who care for them.
