18 June 2025: Mills & Boone

Mills & Boone

Scott introduced Mills & Boone, a breakfast-show take on romantic fiction.

Listeners supplied real encounters, awkward dates and ordinary moments that the programme could rewrite with heightened passion and dramatic language.

Scott leaned into the conventions of romance novels: meaningful glances, impossible physiques, weather reflecting emotion and everyday objects described as though they carried enormous significance.

The feature depended on the contrast between the original listener story and the extravagant version produced on air.

Ellie and Tina helped judge whether each passage remained romantic or had crossed into something too absurd to take seriously.

Regular features

The Good Morning Minute, Easiest Quiz and Birthday Game continued around the romance-writing experiment.

The handover reviewed the strongest Mills & Boone lines and looked ahead to Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
