4 June 2025: Kelly settles the Southampton rivalry

Tickets go on sale

Radio 2 in the Park tickets went on sale at 8.15am, turning the morning into a live countdown for listeners trying to secure places in Chelmsford.

Scott read messages from people waiting on several devices, refreshing pages and coordinating with friends and family.

The Easiest Quiz: Kelly versus Tom

Kelly from Southampton appeared one day after her husband Tom had scored three.

She said the conversation at home had mainly been about dinosaurs after Tom failed to name Jurassic Park. Kelly insisted she would have answered it immediately and wanted the quiz to settle which of them was the better competitor.

The couple were highly competitive but avoided many board games because arguments were inevitable. Their family had even created “Family Olympics”, including a sandbag toss organised by Tom’s father.

Kelly needed only four points to beat her husband. Scott repeatedly reminded her that the low target created its own pressure because scoring three or fewer would be difficult to explain at home.

Her run was framed less around the weekly leaderboard than the marriage rivalry. When she passed Tom, Scott declared that the household result had been settled, even if the wider Streak of the Week remained elsewhere.

The Birthday Game: Nicky turns 50

Nicky joined from the Cotswolds, where the mobile signal was unreliable enough for the team to collect both her landline and mobile number.

She turned 50 and described living somewhere with “more horses than cars”. Her family had campaigned since November to get her onto the Birthday Game.

Nicky asked for 1990s R&B, naming the kind of music she hoped the spinner would produce. One of the records played during the section was Killing Me Softly, giving her the era and style she had requested.

The handover reviewed the scramble for Chelmsford tickets and the outcome of Tom and Kelly’s quiz rivalry.
