2 May 2006: Inside Celebrity Homes – Duncan James, Louise Redknapp and Dame Judi Dench

Scott invites listeners working in service industries to call in and reveal what they’ve discovered inside celebrity homes during routine jobs—launching what he jokingly dubs a “cribs correspondent” scheme with wonderfully indiscreet results.

The episode kicks off with Lee, who’s just finished installing TV equipment at Duncan James’s house. Lee describes walls covered in gold gifts and pictures of Duncan from his Blue days everywhere—the sort of narcissistic décor you’d never see on MTV Cribs because the houses are tidied up beforehand. Duncan wouldn’t let Lee into the bedroom (cue innuendo about mirrors above the bed), but Lee did witness Duncan repeatedly playing voicemail messages from famous people, including messages from Tom Kinston, Kim Mars, Jack Lloyd, and fellow Blue member Simon Webbe, seemingly to show off his connections.

Scott is delighted by this concept and actively encourages listeners to call in with similar observations—as long as they’re legitimately there doing a job (fixing boilers, electrics, etc.), not burgling. The show wants to know what’s really in these houses when the cameras aren’t there.

Next up is Pharaoh from Dorset, who’s fitted privacy glass to Louise Redknapp’s car. However, he only got as far as the garage, which Scott notes doesn’t really count as “Cribs.” Pharaoh has worked on vehicles for David Beckham and Craig David too, but again only in garages. His description of Louise’s garage is underwhelming: washing machine, vegetables in a tray, a nice wine rack—basically any ordinary garage.

The final caller, Mark, claims to have worked as a heating engineer at Dame Judi Dench’s house earlier that day. He mentions seeing Oscars on her mantelpiece and apparently handling them—leading to awkward banter about touching and fingering the awards. Mark admits he probably won’t be going back anytime soon after this conversation airs.
