12 October 2006: The Honesty Game, Making Celebrity Friends, and Where Were You Conceived?

Scott opens the show with the Honesty Game, where listeners can ask the team anything and get truthful answers, while also introducing a new feature aimed at making lonely celebrities into unlikely friends.

It’s a special day on the show: both Joe Cole and Laura have birthdays. Scott deliberately avoids the usual birthday tradition of arranging surprise celebrity guests, referencing an awkward past incident when Holly Valance presented Joe with a cake on his birthday. Instead, he simply wishes them both happy birthday with cards.

The main feature is the Honesty Game, where callers ask the team personal questions. Highlights include Jenny from Birmingham asking Laura whether she’d ever consider dating a woman—Laura says she hasn’t ruled it out but is happy in her current relationship. Ross from work asks Scott whether he’s ever taken a picture of his genitals; Scott admits he took one once but deleted it without sending it.

Scott then attempts a new feature called “Celebrity Getting Friends Together,” based on the observation that famous people lead lonely lives and can only really trust other celebrities. He tries to connect two famous people who don’t know each other—top impressionist John Colsure and Jeremy Kyle—by calling them simultaneously, though the attempt largely fails.

The show takes an unexpected turn when listeners start texting in response to casual comments about conception, leading to a series of calls from people sharing where they were conceived. These include stories about Cornwall beaches, under tables at parties, and one particularly traumatic revelation involving an antique rocking chair now in a child’s bedroom. A caller also shares that they were conceived on their grandparents’ hallway floor.

The episode closes with more Honesty Game calls, including one where Alice asks Joe whether he’s had naughty thoughts about Laura—he denies it, saying she’s like an annoying older sister. A final caller, Lee from Plymouth, asks whether Scott earns significantly more than the team members who “don’t speak.”
