Preparing for Country 2 Country
Scott continued building towards Friday’s live programme from Belfast for Country 2 Country. He asked listeners about their country-music knowledge and began testing how convincingly he could adopt the language and style of the genre.
The programme also introduced John Kerr from BBC Radio Ulster, who would help Scott navigate Northern Ireland’s country scene and the artists appearing across the festival weekend.
Gethin Jones
Gethin Jones joined Scott and found himself questioned about a previously underexplored connection with country music.
The conversation covered the records he knew, the artists he had encountered and whether his interest was genuine or something Scott had exaggerated into a “secret country past”.
Gethin discussed his broadcasting work and the difference between presenting polished television and entering the looser environment of a live radio conversation.
Scott also tested him on country references and invited listeners to decide whether Gethin deserved to be treated as a genuine fan.
The interview became part of the programme’s wider preparation for Belfast, giving Scott another opportunity to admit how much he still needed to learn before hosting in front of a committed country audience.
