9 April 2025: Remember Monday, quiz veteran Andy and a birthday gamble

The Easiest Quiz: Andy’s game-show pedigree

Andy from Southsea in Portsmouth introduced himself as an enthusiastic amateur quizzer with substantial television experience.

His first appearance had been on the National Lottery programme The Jet Set, hosted by Eamonn Holmes. Andy remembered returning to the studio after losing and pressing the button to begin the lottery draw, while Scott revealed that the button used by presenters did not actually control anything.

Andy’s background created greater expectations than usual. He understood studio pressure and quiz mechanics, but still had to answer immediately under the programme’s deliberately unforgiving rules.

The section played on the contrast between a contestant with genuine game-show experience and questions designed to be answerable by almost anybody.

Remember Monday

Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele returned after being announced on the programme as the UK’s Eurovision representatives with What the Hell Just Happened?.

They discussed the reaction since the reveal, including the sudden increase in interviews, fan analysis and opinions about how the song should be staged in Basel.

Scott asked how the trio were protecting their voices and adapting a tightly harmonised song for the demands of Eurovision rehearsals, television performances and repeated promotional appearances.

The group spoke about the excitement of finally being able to discuss plans openly after months of secrecy. They remained cautious around staging details but confirmed that the performance would need to reflect the song’s rapid changes and theatrical structure.

The interview also returned to their long friendship and performing-arts training. Scott again stressed that the live vocals were one of the entry’s strongest advantages.

Remember Monday’s appearance came two days before Doctor Who Big Guest Friday, with Scott also noting that their song would be heard in EastEnders during a scene involving Bianca and Kat.

The Birthday Game: Laura turns 40

Laura from Ludlow turned 40 with her best friend — also called Laura — visiting from Australia. The pair had met at university at 18 and had now known each other longer than they had not.

Her first song was Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy, the Grammy-winning debut that spent nine weeks at number one in 2006. Laura liked it but chose to spin again.

The second was Bay City Rollers’ Bye Bye Baby. She rejected that too and accepted the risk of being left with the third and final selection.

9 April 2025: Vernon Kay

The handover looked ahead to Claudia Winkleman and Mika, while Scott continued tracking Remember Monday’s route towards Basel.
