3 June 2025: More Radio 2 in the Park news

The Chelmsford build-up

Scott continued the Radio 2 in the Park announcements and promised another major piece of news at 8am.

Listeners who had tried unsuccessfully to guess the location on Monday returned with questions about tickets, travel and which artists might appear. Scott enjoyed being able to say Chelmsford repeatedly after spending the previous programme avoiding the name.

The Easiest Quiz: Tom from Southampton

Tom Evans from Southampton joined after discovering that he and Scott shared a detailed knowledge of the city. They remembered Westquay, Ocean Village and the former Leisure World complex, which Tom said had now largely become a car park.

Tom had met his wife Kelly while studying in Southampton. He revealed that she might also be appearing on the quiz later in the week, immediately turning the competition into a household rivalry.

He began strongly with “quantity” to complete “quality over…”, “paste” for Control-V and “peanut” as a type of nut.

His run ended when Scott asked him to name a film about dinosaurs. Tom’s mind went blank and he eventually offered “T-Rex”, which he admitted was not a film.

Scott hummed the Jurassic Park theme until Tom finally recognised it, but the answer had arrived far too late. The failure became particularly painful because Tom said his nephew Tommy was obsessed with dinosaurs.

Tom finished with three points and left Kelly with a very low target to beat when she appeared the following morning.

Good Morning Minute

The minute included a father and daughter finally getting onto the feature after weeks of trying, with the family later telling Scott that the moment had helped during a difficult and anxious morning.
