Barack Obama trainers
Scott became excited by a pair of limited-edition trainers celebrating Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States.
One design featured Obama’s face on one shoe, his name on the other and stars-and-stripes decoration. A subtler pink-and-white version placed his name along the side.
Scott wanted to order them partly because buying two pairs appeared to include an Obama basketball and backpack. Beccy questioned what he would do with a basketball when he did not own a hoop.
The discussion returned to Scott’s recently requested hairdryer and the hood attachment sent into the programme after a previous feature. The device attached to an ordinary hairdryer and inflated a cap around the wearer’s head.
Scott refused to use it before an informal pub screening of his television programme, saying it looked more likely to create frizz than style his hair.
He also noted that contributors on Unofficial Mills were considering creating Scott Mills-branded footwear based on the Obama design.
Scott Mills: The Hoff and Me
Scott appeared on BBC Radio Scotland to promote his Living TV programme about spending time with David Hasselhoff in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
He described jet-skiing at the beach used in Baywatch, flying to Las Vegas in a private jet, visiting clubs and then spending quieter time at Hasselhoff’s house after the initial burst of activity.
Scott said the programme showed two sides of Hasselhoff: the self-aware “Hoff” brand that sold merchandise and attracted publicity, and the quieter person who needed time away from the performance.
Hasselhoff was 56 and, according to Scott, looked after himself, exercised and had stopped drinking. Coffee had become his main vice.
Scott said Hasselhoff trusted him enough to allow cameras into his home because their relationship had continued since Radio 1 helped take Jump in My Car to number three.
The programme also showed Hasselhoff’s daughters, Taylor and Hayley, recording music. Scott had expected the result to be poor but thought the song worked as teen pop.
David Hasselhoff calls from an animal hospital
Hasselhoff later phoned Scott from an emergency veterinary clinic.
He said one of his dogs had attacked his daughter’s cat and the animal was being treated while he waited in the car. He joked about “dog TMZ” and “dog Perez Hilton” covering the story before admitting the cat’s injuries were serious.
Scott and Hasselhoff also discussed the television programme, a possible follow-up in Britain and whether Hasselhoff could stay at Scott’s house. Scott joked that his doors might not be large enough.
Oh, What’s Occurring?
Oh, What’s Occurring? returned after being cancelled by the team member known as “the one that doesn’t speak”. Beccy restored it while temporarily in charge.
The format asked contestants to predict the outcome of recorded challenges before the complete clip was played. This edition mixed one new Stupid Street question with older favourites.
Nine people heard the line “Go baby, go baby, go baby, go…” from the Noisettes’ Don’t Upset the Rhythm and were asked to sing the next part. Only two correctly continued with “don’t upset the rhythm”.
Comedy Dave was then called using recordings of his own voice. He continued speaking to himself for one minute and three seconds before realising what was happening.
The final replay featured “the one that doesn’t speak” attempting to retrieve four apples from water using only his mouth. He managed three within one minute.
