Dear Scott was the programme’s correspondence feature. The Posh Radio 4 Lady read emails and texts in a deliberately formal voice before Scott, Beccy and Chappers responded.
One man asked for help after his wife was mistakenly congratulated on being pregnant by a colleague. When she asked whether she looked pregnant, he inspected her and admitted that he could understand why the mistake had been made.
The team agreed that this was the worst possible answer. They suggested he should have denied it immediately rather than treating the question as an invitation to review her weight.
Other letters discussed the programme’s nicknames, listeners overseas relying on the podcast, and the increasingly elaborate ways people tried to involve themselves in regular features.
The Posh Radio 4 Lady’s ukulele
A listener alerted Scott to an unexpected appearance by the Posh Radio 4 Lady on Radio 4.
In the clip, she admitted that she had been learning the ukulele for six or eight months and was encouraged to play it.
Scott had assumed that her formal delivery represented her entire personality and was delighted to discover a hidden musical hobby.
He immediately considered turning the ukulele into Beccy’s next possible “forte” and tried to arrange an on-air performance despite being told not to make a fuss.
Huw Stephens’ handover
Huw Stephens said his recent handovers with Scott had lacked excitement.
He introduced a large dreamcatcher or similarly dramatic prop to make the exchange more memorable, although Scott immediately undermined the effect by trying to copy the presentation.
Oh, What’s Occurring?
The first round measured how little Comedy Dave spoke during the opening section of Chris Moyles’ programme after attending a late-night DJ event. The answer was 42 seconds.
Ten people on Stupid Street were then asked which job around the home they most wanted somebody else to do. The leading answers were tied between ironing and fixing the toilet.
The final round used Scott’s disguised call to a bra shop. Despite repeatedly saying he was a woman and requesting to be called “madam”, the assistant addressed him as “sir” 12 times.
