The final performance of Mills: The Musical had taken place the previous night.
Scott said the project had begun three months earlier as a joke after a flyer falsely suggested he would play several 1980s pop stars in a stage show.
A suggestion to create “Danny Howard: The Musical” then grew into listener-written songs, auditions, casting and a real three-night run at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Joe Taylor played Scott, while actors also portrayed Beccy, Chappers, the boss and other figures from the programme.

Dear Scott: fact and fiction
A listener asked how much of the musical was based on real events.
Scott admitted there was truth in the scene where he drank wine at the BRIT Awards and went directly on air. He said this had happened during what he called the “dark days” of 2001.
The storyline in which somebody became involved with the boss while dressed as Katy Perry was also treated as having some basis in reality.
Beccy denied ever using a display toilet in B&Q, although the programme had previously heard from parents whose children had mistaken showroom toilets for working ones.
Another listener asked whether a woman in a tiara seen near a jewellery store had been the Posh Radio 4 Lady. She clarified that she had not been committing a robbery.
Vernon Kay’s audition
Each performance included a different celebrity hopeful in the talent-show sequence.
Antony Costa appeared on the first night, Denise Van Outen on the second and Vernon Kay during the final show.
Vernon introduced himself as desperate to enter show business, claimed to have nine children and performed MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This.
His energetic routine lasted considerably longer than expected and almost carried him into the judging panel.
The programme also mentioned Paloma Faith’s appearance within the final-night production and thanked the Posh Radio 4 Lady for performing in an evening gown.
