Scott returns, the Super Bowl and Oh! What’s Occurring?
Scott returned after two weeks away and thanked Sara Cox for covering. A group of listeners promised to rename their car “Scott” if he read their text, prompting him to point out that the car had received both a name change and a change of sex.
He had tried to watch the Super Bowl while away, but made it only through the build-up. That was enough for Scott to admire the American scale of the event, from Carrie Underwood singing the national anthem to jets flying overhead and the coin toss receiving a grand introduction. He contrasted it with the quiet, functional toss before the Australian Open final.
Patrick returned as the reigning Oh! What’s Occurring? champion after the break, confidently predicting answers to Scott’s deliberately specific pop-culture questions. The round included a Stupid Street survey on favourite words beginning with V, Jason Gardiner’s boos on Dancing on Ice and how many Innuendo Bingo clips made former producer Laura spit out her water.
Later, Scott asked listeners whether one person in every friendship group was followed by odd mishaps. He offered himself as the example, beginning a story about spotting a cockroach near his table while on holiday in Thailand, a situation made worse by his intense dislike of them.
