18 May 2010: Scott takes a new job and Flying Ant Day arrives

Scott takes a new job and Flying Ant Day arrives

Scott began by questioning whether Katy Perry’s brief Radio 1 trail had been personalised for every presenter in the country. The team compared it with an even shorter Britney Spears message, and treated both as proof that a celebrity plug could be technically personal without being particularly intimate.

Listeners then declared the arrival of Flying Ant Day, reporting insects hitting their faces in alarming numbers. Scott immediately imagined a low-budget horror film in the mould of Birdemic, which was exactly the sort of exaggerated response the annual event required.

He also announced that he had acquired a new job for extra money, keeping Beccy guessing after she suggested modelling and babysitting. The tease gave the episode its title, while Oh! What’s Occurring? continued with Tom as the show returned to its familiar television-question chaos.
