7 December 2010: Scott returned from Australia as Jason Derulo visited

Scott returned from the jungle

Scott returned from Australia after appearing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and admitted that the flight home had left him completely out of sync. He had seen Christmas music played in 35-degree Australian heat, discovered that the “jungle” was much closer to civilisation than viewers might think, and told Beccy that a taxi driver had corrected him for calling it a jungle rather than a rainforest. He also remembered missing Justin Bieber eating a baguette on Radio 1 while he was away.

He had plenty to say about the Australian version of television, including a very late premiere of Shallow Hal, and described Keith Lemon staying in character from the moment he entered the car at 4am. Back in the studio, they caught up with Jake, who had been worried about being fired from his nativity before being reinstated, and began easing Radio 1 into its Christmas soundtrack.

Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo joined Scott in the Live Lounge, with Scott immediately trying to rename the station “BBC Derulo One”. The pair compared their recent travel, with Jason explaining that he dealt with time zones by sleeping according to the schedule of the place he was travelling to, although his own watch appeared to be displaying several different times.

Scott quizzed him about sleeping on planes, neck pillows, his laptop and travelling in the British freeze. Jason said he was considering a horse because trains, planes and cars were delayed, while Scott said that if he had Jason’s physique he would go to the shops without a top on. Jason confirmed that he would take his shirt off at his Wolverhampton show.

The inevitable question about why he sang his own name at the start of records was asked. Jason’s answer was simply, “because it’s my name”, before he recorded special versions of the vocal for Scott, Matthew Osbourne and Richard Jones.
