Scott and Chris had both watched the new Celebrity Big Brother launch and found themselves becoming unusually opinionated online. The introductory films were essential because several contestants were more memorable for previous reality television appearances than for the careers described beside their names.

James Jordan called himself the Brad Pitt of the dance world, Jasmine Waltz reminded viewers of her earlier involvement with Lee Ryan, and American X Factor finalist Stacy Francis required a clip and Simon Cowell’s praise before either presenter could place her. Scott expected to keep watching despite his complaints, while Chris felt the launch night had already given him everything he needed.

Tom Daley’s morning rules

Tom Daley joined the programme to discuss food, training and the routines supporting his diving career. His advice included starting every day with lemon water, a simple habit that sounded more achievable than much of his physical preparation.

A dentist listening in Bath quickly supplied the drawback: repeated exposure to lemon could gradually damage the enamel on Tom’s teeth. Scott promised to pass on the warning, imagining an athlete with an immaculate body but teeth resembling Stonehenge. Tom’s appearance also produced the day’s title joke as the conversation inevitably returned to photographs in which people seemed only to see him topless.

Jan Slam goes to the NFL

The programme announced its next major prize: two premium tickets for any 2017 NFL game in London, a tour of the home team’s locker room and access to the sideline during the warm-up.

Newsbeat’s Steffan Powell revealed that he had once been a defensive coordinator for a university American football team which became national champion. His excitement helped explain the scale of the prize, although working at Radio 1 prevented him from entering. The previous day’s Wimbledon competition was also completed, beginning a month in which answering the phone correctly became as important as knowing the answer.
