13 June 2008: Kate Silverton’s Revenge on “My Name Is Scott”

BBC News reader Kate Silverton joins Scott on his “My Name Is Scott” repentance feature, turning the tables by revealing she’s caught him red-handed—making drunk audio clips of her sound ridiculous on air, which she’s now forcing him to make increasingly awkward phone calls to apologize.

In this episode’s main feature, Kate Silverton arrives to confront Scott over his past treatment of her. Scott had recorded clips of Kate reading the news, slowed them down on a media player to make her sound drunk, and aired the embarrassing results. Kate arrives armed with an electric dog collar for revenge.

To atone, Scott must pick envelopes: one containing a person’s name, another containing an embarrassing phrase he must say to them. He calls his boss Ben Cooper’s voicemail and leaves a message saying “I’ve thought long and hard and I’ve decided I want to be a woman.” He then records a love song for Dave Pearce, dedicated phone call complete. For the final card—John Westwood’s name paired with “I’m falling in love with you”—Scott cannot bring himself to say it and repeatedly refuses, despite Kate threatening to activate the dog collar. The episode also features Lloyd providing Euro 2008 facts for Scott’s football predictions, a rock vs. boy band lyric quiz with Daniel P. Carter and Joe Cole previewing Download Festival, a “top mistakes at the start of a relationship” audience survey, and the usual mix of callers and station business.
