Dear Scott
In Dear Scott, the Posh Radio 4 Lady read emails in an exaggeratedly formal voice before the team discussed them.
Chris from Fox FM in Melbourne corrected the programme for treating Joe Dolce’s Shaddap You Face as anything other than an Australian classic. He said Dolce was born in America but lived in Australia when the record was made and added that he mainly wanted to hear the Posh Radio 4 Lady say its title.
Sonia had secretly uploaded a video of her boyfriend singing Beyoncé’s Single Ladies in the shower. Scott thought the water sounded more like a weak trickle and joked that the recording resembled somebody urinating nearby.
A listener in Canada corrected the pronunciation of Regina, Saskatchewan, explaining that it rhymed with a term for female anatomy. She invited the team to Saskatoon and said ice hockey was more entertaining than wrestling.
The Northwest Cancer Research Fund asked Scott to act as a naked butler at a ladies’ lingerie evening, serving sparkling wine while wearing only a small apron. Scott rejected the idea despite repeated accusations that he was refusing to help charity.
Patrick, a student at Cornell University, described hitting and killing a deer while listening to a Sara Cox food montage. A police officer first asked whether he was all right, then what the strange food recording was, and finally whether he wanted to keep the deer.
The team debated whether roadkill restaurants existed and whether the policeman thought Patrick might want to eat it.
The Downing Street invitation
Scott revealed that he had been “summoned” to 10 Downing Street but did not know why.
The invitation simply said that the Prime Minister had invited him. The team advised him to take wine, flowers or chocolates, avoid getting drunk and not repeat whatever Paddy McGuinness had supposedly done at Buckingham Palace.
Scott left the programme early while still worrying about etiquette, security and whether the entire invitation might be a prank.
