Auditions to play Scott
The team formally opened auditions for the actor who would play Scott in Mills: The Musical.
The show was scheduled for 11, 12 and 13 August at the Pleasance One theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe.
Applicants had to be male, aged 18 or over and available for rehearsals as well as the performances.
They were asked to submit a two-minute video containing singing, acting and an explanation of why they should play Scott.
Greg James supplied a deliberately unconvincing example. He argued that he was more reliable because he presented the show whenever Scott was absent, then performed a muddled extract from Hamlet before singing La Roux.
Scott compared the audition process with television casting competitions and admitted that finding his stage counterpart made the project suddenly feel real.
Dear Scott
A listener reported walking past Jeremy Kyle signing books in Milton Keynes and seeing only about ten people in the queue, many of whom supposedly looked as though they could appear on his programme.
Another listener had joined a GCSE revision-podcast service and discovered a geography sample featuring Danny Howard and Scott discussing beaches in an exaggeratedly interested voice. She was relieved not to have spent her free download on it.

One correspondent recommended carrying Refreshers sweets when feeling sick. They claimed the chalkiness neutralised stomach acid, the flavour covered the taste and the fizz made projectile vomiting more spectacular, allegedly reaching 15 feet.
The team were fascinated but did not treat the advice as medically reliable.
Oh, What’s Occurring?
The first round counted uses of the word “balls” during Today with Brian Belo. Despite the montage making the word seem almost continuous, the accepted total was ten.
The final part played advertisements for old toys and asked Chappers to identify them.
One involved firing or flipping small balls through hoops. Another was Love ’n Licks Puppies.
The last doll moved its genitals and appeared to urinate after drinking. Chappers guessed “Little Willy Pee-Pee”, which was close enough to the actual Wee-Wee Baby branding to earn partial credit.
