12 May 2010: Scott’s Sony award and a supermarket life low

Scott’s Sony award and a supermarket life low

The programme celebrated Scott’s Sony Radio Academy Award, although the team’s tribute was mostly built around repeatedly playing ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All”. Scott was congratulated as a broadcasting inspiration, while being reminded that he had apparently accepted the award in clothes Beccy was determined to describe as leather trousers.

The Baseballs joined the show and brought their retro-styled covers, giving Scott another excuse to treat an unlikely musical idea with total seriousness. The award itself mattered, but the programme did not allow the atmosphere to become too respectful for long.

Scott then supplied the day’s more human story after going to a supermarket straight from a run. He had filled a trolley, reached the checkout and discovered he only had a tenner, leaving him to decide, under the gaze of an impatient queue, which items could be sacrificed.
