Waiting for the results
With Chris away, Scott began by speaking to a listener waiting for her Scottish Advanced Higher results. Her mother was at work, so she had decided not to open them until they could do it together. Scott offered to share the moment on air, but she sensibly chose to inspect the envelope first and call back once the immediate stress had passed.
The day’s other listener dilemma concerned a relationship that was perfectly real in person but did not officially exist on Facebook. The couple had been together for months, yet the boyfriend had resisted changing his status. Scott considered whether the public declaration mattered or whether demanding it would create a larger problem than the missing label.
Two against one
Charlotte Crosby arrived for Innuendo Bingo alongside the programme’s film expert Rhianna Dhillon. With no ordinary opponent available, Chris was placed in the middle on a rotating chair while both women faced him with water.
The clips drew on sport, cookery, television and the archive of sentences that became completely different once heard inside Bingo. Charlotte and Rhianna could attack from either side, leaving Chris unable to prepare for the next spray. The unusual formation made the game feel less like a contest and more like a coordinated soaking.
Charlotte embraced the chaos immediately, while Rhianna brought the concentration of somebody determined not to waste the advantage. Chris was spun between them and repeatedly hit at close range, producing exactly the wet result Scott had predicted when he called it an all-girl edition.
A day without Chris, except for the wet bit
Scott enjoyed reminding Chris that his absence from the rest of the programme had not protected him from its most uncomfortable feature. The combination of Charlotte, Rhianna and the spinning chair also gave the game a visual arrangement unlike the usual face-to-face match.
Greg James joined Real or No Real at the end of the afternoon. The round brought the studio back to ordinary competition after a programme dominated by nervous results, relationship etiquette and three people trying to maintain a mouthful of water while somebody on television said something innocent.
